THE CABLE JOURNEY Camouflage reveal for The all-electric ID.5

For the world premiere of the all-electric ID.5 GTX, we had to tease the car while it was still under camouflage, with only a 3D model to work from. That sparked the idea literally. What if plugging in an electric car didn’t just charge it, but unlocked new worlds to drive through? A sort of  journey inside the cable, no?

Assets for a car that didn’t exist. Again.

Of course, doing a single video would’ve been too easy. So we built a full campaign to tease the upcoming ID.5 GTX. Each feature living in its own CGI world: sustainability, performance, and the sheer coolness of driving electric. Almost everything was digital, except the intro and outro shots, because the car itself was still camouflaged.

No AI was used. (It wasn’t even a thing yet.)

This was built entirely in CGI, with one artist briefed to create the moods that later became the worlds the car drives through. Painstaking, frame by frame, pre-AI revolution and here’s the animatic to prove it.
